Koikkal Palace

Koyikkal Palace is located at Nedumangad 18 km from Trivandrum, on the way to Ponmudi and Courtallam waterfalls. 'Umayamma Rani' of the Venad royal family built this palace in the 15th century. The palace is shaped like a 'Nalukettu'. Today Koyikkal palace accommodates a Folklore Museum and a Numismatics Museum set up by the Department of Archaeology.

This is the one and only center for coin collection in Kerala. Many old musical instruments and the Chilambu (anklet) and the Thaliyola (old manuscript) used by Umayama Rani are well preserved here.
