Kasargod is the northern most district of Kerala, the land of Temples, Mosques and Churches. Kasaragod is the one of the most beautiful districts in Kerala with forts, beaches, hills and backwaters. Bekal Fort in Kasargod district is the biggest fort in Kerala. Other tourist attractions are the Chandragiri Fort, Anandashramam, Malik Deenar Masjid, Valiyaparamba backwater and Kareem forest park.
Ananthapura Lake Temple in Kasargod is the only lake temple in Kerala and the Moolasthanam (original seat) of Ananthapadmanabha Swami (Sri Padmanbha Swami Temple) Thiruvananthapuram. People speak Malayalam with the accent of many other languages like Tulu, Kannada, Urdu and Konkani, which makes it difficult for the people of Southern Kerala to understand them.
