Natanakaisiki, Irinjalakkuda

Natanakaisiki is a renowned dance school located in Irinjalakuda, a town in Thrissur district, Kerala, India. It was founded in 1994 by Kalamandalam Kshemavathy, a renowned classical dancer and teacher.

The school offers training in various dance forms, including Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, and Kathakali, as well as folk dances of Kerala. The school is known for its emphasis on preserving and promoting the traditional dance forms of Kerala.

Natanakaisiki has trained many talented dancers who have gone on to perform on various national and international stages. The school has also collaborated with other art forms, such as music and theater, to create unique and innovative performances.

In addition to dance training, Natanakaisiki also offers workshops and lectures on Indian classical dance and music, and has organized several cultural events in collaboration with other organizations to promote the traditional art forms of Kerala.

Kalamandalam Kshemavathy, the founder of Natanakaisiki, is an accomplished classical dancer and teacher who has performed and taught extensively both in India and abroad. She has been honored with several awards for her contribution to the field of Indian classical dance.

Natanakaisiki is a Research Centre for dance and theatre traditions of the women of Kerala as part of Natanakairali. Mohiniyattam, Nangiar Koothu and Thiruvathira Kali are the major art forms at present included in the study of Natanakaisiki which was founded by Nirmala Paniker in 1979.

Nirmala Paniker, disciple of guru Kalyani Kutty Amma, is a dancer and choreographer. As a research scholar, she has investigated the links between the dance forms practiced by the women of ancient Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

One of the major activities of Natanakaisiki is a Mohiniyattam kalari (school) where students are trained in the dance form following the methodology deviced by Nirmala Paniker. The training is rigorous and based on a highly involved as well as personalized gurukulam pattern.
