St. John's Jacobite Syrian Church, Olassa, Kottayam
St. John's Church, Olassa is a small congregation consisting of 125 familiy members solely to promote moral and spiritual well being of Syrian Jacobite Orthodox members and is situated in the west of Kottayam town.
It is situated 9 Kms west of Kottayam town, in Olassa of in Aymanam Panchayath. Due to some trivial difference with Mother church (Kallumkathra St.George Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church) the Jacobites Syrian Orthodox Christians of nearby villages of Olassa and Parippu preferred to have a church in their locality.
The first Holy Qurbono was celebrated by late Kochuparambil Paulose Ramban (later Paulose mar Koorilous Metropolitan) on 18th karkadakam 1097{Malayalam Calender}.
As a part of Kottayam diocese, the diocesion Metropolitan takes care of the appointment of Edakava vicar to this church.
