Sakhi Resource Center for Women
Sakhi as the name denotes is a woman friend,who supports and encourages women and women's collectives, with gender perspectice in all their activities. It is a space, for women to come together, share their pains, anxieties, pleasures and fun.
Sakhi started in 1996. Sakhi believe that all issues are women's issues. Sakhi's conviction is that women and the marginalized have to become active participants to create a truely democratic, participatory and egalitarian society.
The team of two in 1996 has now grown to be 6 full time staff. Besides sakhi has a number of volunteers, supporters and friends who regularly interact and support us in the work. Its journey of last 10 years has been one of joy, pride, anxieties and sometimes even hopelessness.
But Sakhi have survived because of all the support and also more so, because of the faith reposed in us by the many women, youth and pro-feminist men whom Sakhi have encountered during this journey.
