Palakkad Tourist Places

Palakkad lies on the foot of Wester Ghats, often called as the Granary of Kerala because Paddy is cultivated on large scales in Palakkad district. The district is known for the green dense forests, dams, wild life sancturies, historical monumnets, rare species of animals and birds. Some of the popular places among tourists are Malampuzha Dam and the Garden, Parambikkulam Wild Life Sanctury, Nelliampathy Hills, Silent Valley National Park and Kalppathi Siva Temple.

Thunchan Gurumadom, Mennvallom, Palakkad Fort, Mayiladumpara, and Mangalam dam are other tourist spots. Jain Temple of Jainmedu, Chulliar Dam, Killikurrussi Mangalam, Dhoni etc also are popular among people. Malampuzha Gardens draws large number of visitors. There are a variety of flowers and a rock garden inside the Malampuzha Garden.

Palakkad can be accessible by road or rail. A good number of state and interstate buses ply from Palaghat to other places in Kerala and to the neighbouring states.
