Mattanchery Palace

Mattanchery Palace is a beautiful palace built by the Portuguese. Now this is known as Dutch Palace. Wall Paintings of the 17th century is a speciality here. An art gallery is also found here.The real glory of the palace however lies in its wall murals, all done using the tempera process of painting. Forty-five scenes from the Ramayana adorn the long walls of the bedchamber. The palace is one of the oldest buildings of the Portuguese and is in oriental style. There are frequent bus and boat services to Mattancherry. The boats start from Main Boat Jetty near Subash Park at Ernakulam town.
