Aval Uppuma

Aval Uppuma is a variety dish. This recipe is taken from Vanitha magazine covering Recipes from Kalpathi, Palakkad. Ingredients Thick Aval - 2 cups Coconut shredded - 1/2 coconut Oil - 2tsp Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp Urad Daal (Uzhundu Parippu) - 1/2 tsp Dry red chillies - 2 Curry leaves - 1 stem Asafoetida - a pinch Method Wet the aval and keep for 5 minutes. Heat the oil, add mustard and urud dal. When the seed starts spluttering, add curry leaves and dry red chillies. Add aval and coconut along with required quantity of salt and mix well. Add Asafoetida also.
