Maharaja's College is a Heritage College identified by the state Government and one of the five Centers of Excellence in the state.

Maharaja's College, Ernakulam ,located in the heart of Cochin city and spread over an area of 10 acres, has been in existence for the last 130 years as a centre of Higher Education and advanced learning.

It is a special grade college affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. It is cutout by UGC to be raised to the status of a Deemed University and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council in 1999 at the level of three Stars.

The college functions as a human resource development centre in 18 different disciplines with 16 regular programmes at UG level, and 19 at PG level. In addition it offers two self financing vocational courses, a vocational BCom and three add-on courses.

The college houses many useful peripheral units such as, student co-operative society, Ernakulam District employees co-operative society, MG University information centre, Canteen, Hostels for Boys and Girls, etc
