BCM is a National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accredited educational institution under the management of the Archdiocese of Kottayam, affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

BCM College was founded by His Excellency Bishop Thomas Tharayil, a pioneer in women's education in the Christian Community of Central Travancore.

B.C.M College is a landmark in Kottayam, the literacy capital of India, situated 1 km. away from the railway station, on the Kottayam - Kumali road. It faces Christ the King Cathedral next to the building that houses the famous "Malayala Manorama".
