Government College, Mananthavady is located in a hillock near Payode in Edavaka Panchayat, Mananthavady Taluk, Wayanad District.
A Government College in Mananthavady had been a long cherished dream of the marginalised people of the hill area of Mananthavady Taluk of Wayanad District.
A Sponsoring Committee - the North Wayanad Education Society - was formed for this purpose. Thus the dream came true when the Government College, Mananthavady started functioning with Pre-Degree III and IV Groups with 80 students in each, in a temporary shed attached to Thonichal church on 1st Sept 1981.
The college was affiliated to University of Calicut (Now it is affiliated to Kannur University). Now the college with four degree courses stands as an oasis of learning for the hundreds of students around the vast area of this Taluk.
Besides common facilities like sports ground, full fledged practical labs for physics and electronics; college has Centralised Computing Faciliy, Internet lab and Digital Language lab.
