Banasura Sagar Dam is located about 21 km from Kalpetta in Wayanad. This Dam is built on the Karamanathodu tributary of the Kabini River to support the Kakkayam Hydro electric power project.

Banasura Sagar Dam is the largest earthen dam in India and the second largest in Asia, with many small islands in its reservoir because of the land parts submerged when the dam was built.

This Dam attracts a lot of tourists visiting Wayanad. Facilities like Boating is also available here. An Entrance Fee of Rs. 20/- for adults and Rs.10/- for children between 5 to 10 years.

A garden with many flowers and other vegetation also available near Banasura Sagar Dam. Space for Children play area, long swings etc. are also available for entertainment.
