Rathinirvedam was one of the most influential Malayalam film released in the year 1978. Jayabharathi played the pivotal role of Rathichechi in the film, directed by the renowned director Late Bharathan and written by the legendary Late Padmarajan. Krishnachandran was the male lead.

Now after 32 years, T K Rajeev Kumar remakes the film with the same title, with Shwetha Menon and Sreejith Vijay in the leading roles.
