Lal's upcoming movie Tournament will have director Fazil's son Shanu (Fahad Fazil) in the leading role. Shanu, who had done some good roles in the films like Kaiyethum Doorathu, Kerala Cafe and Pramani, is a promising actor in Mollywood.

Lal himself will write the script for this comedy thriller movie. The film also has some new faces, Aryan, Manu, Johan, Prajan, and Praveen, in the pivotal roles. Roopa Manjari of Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru fame is the heroine.

Tournament is about six youngsters and a girl who plan a trip to Bangalore to take part in the IPL Cricket tournament. All these youngsters are ardent cricket fans. This will be a road movie which will start in Kochi to Pollachi, Gundapettu and then Mysore and last up to Bengaluru.

Deepak Dev is the music director, while Lal and P N Venugopal will produce the movie.

The shooting of the movie has started at Kochi. The film is brought to theaters by Lal productions and will be Christmas release.
