Akshayâs last film Chandni Chowk to China didnât fare well at the box office. This much expected film had the story of many old Hindi films and the only difference it had was it was taken in China.
Movie circle was expecting hardcore commercial romantic action comedy KAMBAKTH ISHQ. After the flop of Tashan and CC2C Akshay realized it is time for him to change direction.
Its refreshing for the audience that Akshayâs new film is a supernatural thriller directed by Nagesh Kukunoor.
Akshay was continuously doing regular Bollywood comedy masala films for some time now. Most of it suited him well and those films succeeded one after another and he got new image of a comedy hero, who was once known as an action hero.
One of the important qualities with Akshay is that he wonât rest. He does film one after the other.
Akshayâs character in film Tasveer 8x10 is Jai. Jai is around 30 and he gets a supernatural power which helps him to tell the past of any one by just touching the belongings of that person. As always power is followed by responsibility. As he was working under his supernatural powers, he looses faith in it and starts to question its credibility.
Once, Jai encounter secrets relating to his own past, which he couldnât believe. Thus he set out to find the truth. The films twist start with a photograph which is of the size 8 x 10.
This perplexing supernatural suspence thriller is expected to create a trend for sci âfi supernatural subjects in Bollywood.
Tasveer was under production for more than a year.
Nagesh Kukunoor is famous for his film Iqbal and Hyderabad Blues. Nagesh Kukunoorâs last release was the forgettable BOMBAY TO BANGKOK.
Apart from Akshay Kumar the movie is decorated with stars like Ayesha Takia, Sharmila Tagore, Javed Jaffrey, Girish Karnad, Anand Mahadevan etc.
The film is scheduled to be released on April 3, 2009.
