Angel John is a film which thoroughly entertains most filmgoers. Director S.L Puram Jayasurya after his debut film Speed Track with Dileep has harked back with his new offering, Angel John.

The film follows the story of a 21 year old naughty guy played by Santhanu who is the son of bank manager, John acted by Lalu Alex. The father always bad mouth his son which lets his vices divulge. Santanu is characterized by failure. He starts an internet café which conks out. Later he gets into a drug deal and crashes into great misery. These failures have made him decide to die. But some miracles happen. He gets an opportunity to choose from an ordinary life or another life with all his fantasies accomplished at the cost of two by third of his life.

Which will he choose and what happens to him is what make viewers follow the story.
The story cannot be said to be groundbreaking but the mode of telling and the scenes stands above expectation of audience.

Santhanu Bhagyaraj’s selection of Angel John as his debut Malayalam film is apt. He has space to perform and has justifiably portrayed the character. He carries the film in his shoulder almost till the end of first part. Santhanu proved to be the promising star for Malayalam industry.

Jagathy as popularity hunter provides a refreshingly new character; here he has something to do than essaying dialogues in the name of comedy and repeating his magnified mannerisms. Salim Kumar and Biju Kuttan have memorable roles. Baiju who appears as Karate master has done good comedy.

Entrant scenarist Manaf is dependable. Graphics are done quite well and camera is fine. Editing by Bijith Bala is innovative. Back ground score by Ouseppachan is apposite.

Mohanlal as Angel John brings all miracles.

Film gives message to audience; the director had taken due care of not preaching too much. The visualization of first song is outstanding and will be a new experience for keralites.

Being a mass entertainer, nothing wrong can be said about the movie as the film achieves commercial success. This nicely packed film is a winner all the way.
