The 55th National film Awards for the year 2007 are expected to be announced in a week. Tamil film ‘Kanchivaram’ directed by Priyadarsan is expected to bag the Golden Lotus Award for the Best Feature Film.

Prakash Raj would bag the Best Actor award for his outstanding performance in ‘Kanchivaram’. Kannada actress Umasri wins the Best actress award.

Adoor Gopalakrishnan has chance to win the award for the Best Director for the Malayalam film ‘Nalu Pennungal’. Malayalam Music Director Ouseppachan bags the award for the Best Music Direction for the Malayalam film ‘Ore Kadal’ directed by renowned director Shyama Prasad.

Ore Kadal also is expected to win the award for the Best Feature Film in Malayalam. Best Editing award will be bagged by B. Ajith for the Malayalam film Nalu Pennungal. Pattanam Rasheed may win the Best Make-up Artist for the film ‘Paradesi’.

Due to Andhra Chief Minister YSR Reddy’s death, official announcement of the awards will be delayed.
