Thakazhi Sivashankara Pillai was popularly known as Thakazhy after his place of birth. He was the Jnanapeedam award winning Novelist and Writer from Kerala. He also won the Padma Bhushan and many other prestigious awards for his literary works.

Thakazhi's famous works include Chemmeen, Kayar, Thottiyude makan, Randidangazhi , Enippadikal and a lot more. His belongings and books are on display at his house in Thakazhi, now converted into a museum and memorial by the Government. There is also a 'smrithi Mandapam' and a Statue in the compound.
