Wayanad Wild Life Sanctuary is a part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and is bounded by Nagerhole Wild Life Sanctuary, Bandipur Wild Life Sanctuary (Both Karnataka) and Mudumalai Wild Life Sanctuary of Tamilnadu.

Wayanad Sanctuary area has the largest Adivasi population in Kerala.
