Simple Chicken Biriyani

A simple Chicken Biriyani - easy to make and tasty to eat. Ingredients
  • Chicken - 1 kg
  • Chilly Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Coriander Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Garam Masala - 1 tsp
  • Curd - 1/4 cup
  • Salt - as required
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Basmati Rice - 3 cups
  • Cinnamon - 3 pieces
  • Cloves - 3
  • Cardamom - 4
  • Lemon Juice - from 1/2 of a lemon
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece
  • Garlic - 4 cloves
  • Green Chilly - 6
  • Coriander Leaves - a few
  • Tomato - 1
  • Water - 6 Cups
Method Cut the chicken into pieces. Marinate the chicken pieces with a paste of Red chilly powder, coriander powder, garam masala, salt and 1/4 cup curd. Pour some oil into a hard bottomed pan and fry the basmati rice along with cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and lemon juice. Keep it aside. Pour the rest of the oil and add the crushed ginger, garlic, corinader leaves and green chilly. Saute for some time. Add the sliced tomatoes and saute for some time. Add the chicken pieces and keep it covered over low flame for some time. Add some water also. When the chicken pieces becomes tender, add the fried rice to this along with water. Allow to boil for about 2 minutes and then cook on low flame until done.
