Fish Biriyani

Fish Biriyani - Spicy Biriyani made using Fish and Biriyani Rice. I got this recipe from Vanitha Malayalam Magazine. Ingredients
  • Seer Fish (King Fish) - 1/2 kg (make into 10 pieces)
  • Salt - as required
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Chilly Powder - 1 tsp
  • Oil - for frying
  • Big Onion sliced lengthwise - 4
  • Green Chilly crushed - 10
  • Ginger crushed - 4" piece
  • Garlic - 10 cloves
  • Coriander Leaves - 50 g
  • Coconut shredded and grinded - 1/2 coconut
  • Curd - 1 cup
  • Kaima Rice - 1/2 kg
  • Garam Masala - 1 tsp
  • Ghee - 1 tsp
Method Preheat the oven to 325 degree Fahrenheit. Marinate the fish pieces with salt, turmeric powder and red chilly powder for about 1 hour. Fry the fish pieces in oil. Fry the onions, green chillies, ginger, garlic and coriander leaves in the oil left over after frying fish. Pour the curd and grinded coconut along with this. Add the fried fish pieces to this and cook with some gravy for some time. Fry the rice in ghee. Pour double water and required salt and cook the rice until half done to make ghee rice. Spread the rice in a vessel and sprinkle garam masala on this. Place the fish pieces above this. Make layers of rice and fish like this and bake the rice in the preheated oven for half an hour.
