Vaidooryam tells the story of Gayathri, a village girl who loves Sreekuttan. Sreekuttan joins army and leaves for his workplace. After some time, he becomes absconding and the news spreads in the village. Family, friends and officials try to locate him, but in vain.

Everyone started believing that Sreekuttan is dead, except Gayathri. She starts her journey in search of Sreekuttan. The problems she faces in her journey and the truth she finds out is the crux of the story.

Kailash and Nakshathra play the pivotal roles of Sreekuttan and Gayathri. Jagathy Sreekumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vijaya Raghavan, Risabava, Swadikam George, Mamu Koya, Priya, and Sumithra play other important roles.
