Alappuzha

Alappuzha or Alleppey is a small and beautiful district in Kerala. Alappuzha is gifted with canals, backwaters, lagoons and beaches. Alappuzha town was described in the history as Venice of the East. Kuttanad, the rice bowl of kerala with large paddy fields is located in Alappuzha district.

Alleppey is the center of backwater tourism in Kerala. Many high class hotels are resorts are avaiable here. House boats or kettuvallams is a main attraction here.

Alappuzha also famous for its snake boats. Main towns are Chengannur, Mavelikkara, Kayamkulam, Haripad, Ambalappuzha, Alappuzha, Cherthala, Thakazhy, Aroor etc
