Marine Drive Kochi

Whenever we go to Kochi we visit marine drive too. In our last visit to Kerala few weeks back we visited marine drive once again and spent few hours there. Actually we had planned to get down at Ernakum on the way from Chennai to my native place in Alleppey but due to bus and auto strike we cancelled it. While coming back we stayed in Kochi for one day and visited all our friends in Tripunithura and spent few hours roaming around in marine drive and M G Road.



Actually we had planned for a boating through the backwaters but it was too late in the evening and was raining so we cancelled it. We sat near the GCDA (greater Cochin Development Authority) Complex near Taj Residency hotel for around 1 hour. Then we had some snacks and coffee from Bimbis Restaurant. It is our favorite restaurant and whenever we come to Marine Drive area we visit Bimbis too. We left the place around 6:30pm because it was raining heavily.



It was a wonderful experience sitting near the backwater and walking through the walkway starting from the high court junction. The gentle breeze from Vembanadu Lake is an important attraction for tourists as well as native people. Also it is a very good place for shopping in Kochi. There are many shops in the GCDA complex in which you can buy dress materials, watch, electronic goods, handicraft and gift items. Opposite to GCDA complex there is another shopping complex called Penta Menaka. There you will get all kind of mobile phones and accessories, CDs, DVDs etc. Also there are many coffee shops, fast food shops and hotels in this part of Kochi.
