Established in 1959, about 1500 have graduated from this college. The college has 8 full-fledged departments and all of them offer postgraduate courses and research on latest aspects of dentistry. Government Dental College Trivandrum is a Renowned teaching and research Center.

The Government Dental College, Thiruvanathapuram was first started in a small block of the Medical College Hospital. Nearly 1500 students have graduated from this institution so far. Initially 20 students were admitted yearly but presently 40 students are admitted.

Government Dental College Trivandrum has a longstanding commitment to advanced graduate education and to preparing clinical scholars for leadership careers in Oral Health Care, Public Health and Specialty Practice
